On my last sail, my the clutch lever on my wheel pilot (autopilot) began self disengaging in choppy seas. The Raymarine website suggests taking this to an authorized service facility for adjustment. Before I do that, I wanted to see if anyone has successfully resolved a similar problem themselves.

Which wheel pilot do you have? I recently installed an X-5 and I thought I read something in the manual about adjusting that clutch mechanism with the supplied allen key. I do suffer from CRS so I may be wrong...

I think it may be X-5, but I am not sure. Hmmm...wonder what the chances are that I could find the "supplied allen key"!

I remember some language like that too, but not sure it was in connection with my problem.

I think its a common problem with MKII Wheel Drive after some uses. I put a loop of bungy cord around the pin that restrain back portion of the wheel drive and sling the bungy to the clutch handle. It prevents the clutch from being kick out in rough/lumpy sea.
