My boat has T50 tridata equipment. No autohelm on our boat. Was wondering what the difference is between T50 and the newer model of T60? If we equip put boat with the 6000 Autohelm, will our older T-50 work, or do I have to upgrade everything? How much should we pay for an upgrade if we have to go there?

ST-50 is an older model than ST-60.

Both use the SeaTalk communication protocol / cables, and both will talk to an Autohelm AS-7000 using the SeaTalk protocol. The ST-50 Tridata instrument reports Speed, Depth, and Water Temperature. None of this data is needed by the autopilot. Therefore, there is almost no need to have your ST-50 instruments to talk to the autopilot unless you add a Raynav GPS into the mix. will work with 6000 autopilot

We have ST50 everything on our boat as well as the 6000 autopilot interconnected and they can/do talk to each other. There are two advantages interconnecting the 6000: 1. can keep a gps course (presuming you have gps data available), and 2. can set the 6000 to sail a specific course off the wind data rather than a compass or true course.
