Raymarine St1000

Looking for input on a Raymarine ST1000 auto pilot before I spend the money.
I'm interested in installing one on my Oday 27.
Any input would be helpful.

I looked at the specs. On the ST1000 and then bought their RayMarine ST2000. I suggest you do the same.

There's good reason to considert the 2000 model. It's got a beefier motor/drive and quicker response time. A 1000 is good for a 22 to 25 foot boat, but I'd recommend considering the larger unit for your boat. That also depends on how you plan to use it, but most folks end up enjoying it so much they use it for everything, not only motoring. I found that an autopilot quickly teaches you how to best set your sails.

I have a Raymarine 1000 and it works well with sail, But; my yanmar YMS 8 messes with it,when running!..Dale

I have the ST 1000 on my S2 27 and it works great. It is rated up to 6,500 lbs. The S2 is blessed with a very good balanced helm, I have had several O'Days (23, 26, 272) and they tended to have more weather helm, so the bigger one might be a valid consideration if weather helm is an issue with the 27.
Either way you usually shorten sail a little early when using an autopilot. And don't mount it near any speakers, that will drive it nuts.
Defender has them for under $400 right now, I was looking at them the other day because I had to buy a pushrod extension for mine.
