Was having problems with my sonar not sending a clear video to my plotters via the DSM300. After having the DSM300 checked out last year, updating the OS on chartplotters and DSM300, checking all connections repeatedly, I was about to try splicing the transducer wire thinking that the hard kink as it entered the DSM may be causing a short. this was as a last resort before replacing the transducer.
I was at an info session at Masons chandelry and the Raymarine speaker suggested I try taking the DSM300 unit in for another 'check'. It seems that units made in Mexico have been having so many problems that Raymarine will replace defective units.
Very impressed with such good support. So I had my DSM replaced with a reportedly more reliable DSM30, which will handle the transducer I have in my hull.
Can't wait for splash in a few weeks to see if the sonar is working as it should, so I can find all that sunken treasure at the bottom of Lake Ontario
