Has Raymarine come out with a new autopilot called the Smartpilot X-5 or have I just been asleep at the wheel? I've been reviewing autopilots for a few months and just today read about the X-5. Does anyone have any experience with the unit or know anything about it? I have an H34 that displaces 12000 lbs and need a new AP. The S1 looks like a bit difficult to install. Maybe the X-5 is a little easier and will do the job. Any advice or opinions are welcome. Thanks, Joe Mullee

Repackaged?

Joe: I think it is just a repackaged s1 or s2 corepak with the gyro stabilizer integrated into the package. I installed my Raymarine S2 corepak, rudder sensor and rotary drive by myself. I really believe that anyone could do the same. The most intimidating part of the installation was the rudder sensor which all of the newer Ray products have included.
