Has anyone had any experience with the RayMarine remote autohelm? Any gotcha's on the install? I've got the C-80 Chartplotter along with the SmartPilot 6001 Autohelm, ST60 wind and tridata and would like to daisy chain the remote along with the others (already connnected). I was curious what kind of experiences folks have had with the reomte.
Thank you,
Jane

I have one and installed it myself. It was very simple, just plug it into a SeaTalk port and it works. There was no additional setup that needed to be done.

I agree with Lee. It's a very straightforward installation. Only problem I had was about two years after installation the smartpilot failed. Local rep couldn't fix it and had to return it to Raymarine. I received a new unit within 2 wks. All has worked well in the last 3 years. Keeping my fingers crossed it will in the future.

PS: Read up on the set up procedures in the manual. It can be the most frustrating. Check your chartplotter's computer for the latest operating version (free on Raymarine website). Good luck.

I installed it a couple of months ago. No problem whatsoever, either in the installation or operation. I plugged the transceiver into the autohelm control head via the supplied Sea Talk cable, but you can plug it into any available Sea Talk port on any of your gauges or devices. I also wired the charging cradle down at the Nav station and just take the remote up to the helm each time I go out. The charge seems to last all day, even on a long day with lots of use.

Good luck.

Works really nicely. Good to have the depth information when anchoring single-handed.
