Gentlemen, I recently complete a very trying time in installation of a new RayMarine S1 auto pilot and its accessories. I did a good job of hooking up the rudder positioning pot to the S1 computer and have also added the ST60 wind vane, boat speed and depth reader. I also hooked up my Garmen GPS to the NEMA input ports on the S1. I also purchase the RayMarine SmartController remote control head and it appears to works well - expecially with the GPS data flow. This hand held remote has a feature that allows one to set up - what RayMarine calls their "favourite pages" (4 of them). My question to the Hunter Owners is this: Has anyone found a practical use for these "favourite pages" in the use of the S1 auto pilot on a sailboat ?? My S1 computer head is connected to the electrical Type 1 Drive for the rudder. My original AUTOHELM AP install on my HL35 was the AH6000 autopilot with the Type 1 Drive. During Hurrican IVAN (Sept 2004)the Type 1 Drive connector rod to the rudder quadrent was broken as well as the old computer (that did not require a rudder position indicator). Sent both of the units back to RM for repair. They fixed the Type 1 drive but were unable to fix the AH600 computer. The S1 autopilot was offered as a replacement and it appears that it has all the necessry features, and more to make it a good fit. The new S1 computer box was sent back to the factory recently to repair two of the wire squeeze rocker arms. While at the factory the technicians installed an S1 computer software upgrade Ver 4.62 (?). I have yet to find out just what this upgrade is and what it does. Regarding RayMarine upgrades. There is a item on their web page that states that they have an upgrade for the ST60 sensors. If required (or desired) this upgrade(s) must be instlled at the factory. Has anyone availed-themselves of this sensor upgrade from the factory for the ST60 Boat Speed, Wind speed and Depth finder display instruments ?? Since completing my S1 install work package I have not had an oppoutunit to put many water hours on the RM 600 S1 auto pilot. That should come as the weather improves. Broad Reach
