Raymarine Rotary Rudder Sensor Installation Question

Finally have a rudder sensor installation underway. Will probably wrap it up this weekend.
I have a quick question regarding the cable run from the rudder sensor to the auto pilot head.
The cable length is approximately 30 feet long; my cable run is only about 10 feet. It is OK to cut the cable to length or will it affect the output from the sensor to the control head? There are only bare wires at the end of the cable, so there is not an issue with any special connectors.

cutting the cable to length will not affect the performance in any way... but make sure you cut it long enough that it lays comfortably in its ties with plenty of slack. the best way to do this is to run the cable, but do not cut it yet.... then tie it up out of the way nicely, and after its all fitted and tied, then cut the cable to make the connection... it is surprising how much of the cable will be used when its secured properly....
