I had the RL70plus on my 290 Hunter and now have the C-80 and just love it,it uses the navionics chip and not C-map like the RL70.
Go Raymarine web site and see what the C and what the E does and you should be able to do a demo on the C and what it does.
Look on E-bay for them.

Did you have to modify your navpod at all to accomodate the new unit? I'm not sure if the c series will have the same footprint as the rl70. I imagine all the wiring had to change also - connections to seatalk, radome, etc.

I've got a Raymarine RL70RC (monochrome) and the RL70CRC ( color) both of which are chartplotter and radar capable. If you presently have a radome, it may not be compatible with the Raymarine C and E series displays. Contact Raymarine with the serial number of your present radome and they will tell you if it will work. Some of the older radome will work with all models mentioned. My radome would work with the C and E series displays, even though I purchased it for the RL70RC. Why do you want to upgrade? If you want color, you could pick up a RL70CRC color display on ebay. They are great units and reasonably priced.

I had the RL70 on my 2001 290 Hunter and now have the C-80 on my 2007 Hunter 36 and never installed either one only added radar to the RL70,I am pretty sure the RL70 install and cut out is different than the C-80.
