Recently purchased a used boat ( new to me ) Has Raymarine package, Radar, AIS, and ST 60+ instruments. Looking to see if there is anyone in my area that can give me hands on lesson for use. Played with system while using manuals, but just not getting it. I am located in Milford Ct Harbor.

I'd love to help. It took me several years to get proficient with the ST 60 system and the Raymarine GPS/Plotter/Radar. But I'm not local. The PO for my boat left some cheat sheets which were helpful - I left them for the new owner when I sold. I think they were laminated sheets from the manual or maybe a product available from Raymarine.

Can't figure how to turn on the AIS, instructions are a little fuzzy. Never used a radar before and not sure what I am suppose to see. The E180 has a scanner and a radar, what is the difference?
Which model ais? Mine powers on through the panel switch. Check for fuses in the wiring. If you are talking about on your chart plotter that should be in your manual. If you don't have the manual download at raymarine.com
There is no significant difference for the operator. The scanner is the part of the radar the sends and receives the radar signals. The "radar" is the whole system including the display, software, scanner, etc.
So when the unit says "Turn on the scanner?" That is effectively "Turn on the Radar?" Choose the option yes and it should count down until the scanner is operational and the display starts to show features.

Thanks for the help. Found the AIS power unhooked in a bundle, go figure. I got the Radar to start up, but it looks like it makes a couple turns and then nothing, not sure if it is a problem or operator error.
