Just got off the phone with Defender about my autopilot order for Raymarine. I have had an order in since early February and have not gotten it YET! Defender called Raymarine and they are saying late June! BUT they have said March, April, and May.

So being a good consumer, I ordered a Simrad autopilot. Only one part is not in stock and Defender said I should have in a couple of weeks.

Raymarine might be dead end for autopilots...

My understanding is that Raymarine is having serious issues since they are basically not able to get any credit...so they can't build any new inventory to ship. Either they have it or they don't...

You made a very wise decision, even though it took you a while. You will be much happier IMO with the Simrad system.

And they have their name in 6' high letters on a brand new state of the art building just along the road from me and moved in recently.
And Garmin just bid £12.5 million for them despite the £92 million existing debt. This deal looks like going through if Raymarine's shareholders okay it, Garmin being many times larger than Raymarine. (Hot off the press a few hours ago.) (15 pence per share against 470 p some time back - i.e. 10c versus $3.13 US)

Of course, Garmin tried to but Raymarine once before...and was rejected by Raymarine.
