Raymarine issued a brief statement today confirming that it is in preliminary discussions with mobile navigation giant Garmin and other parties concerning the possible sale of the British-based marine electronics manufacturer.
"The company continues to explore a sale of the business or an equity fund-raising and, in the absence of either of these, to secure additional medium-term debt facilities with its banking syndicate," Raymarine said in the statement.
The company said that, at this stage, there can be no certainty that an offer will be made nor as to the terms on which any offer might be made.
At this time, it is not known whether any offer will provide any value for ordinary shareholders, the company added.

Oh, Swell...

Given Roger's recent 'tech support' from Garmin, OUCH. Raymarine's prior three editions of ownership did a pretty good job with parts, service and support, so I guess we can hope Ray 4.0 does as well, or that they get some interim capital.

It is very very difficult to reach Raymarine's tech support via email or phone. When you can get through, however, they are helpful. They ignored my last email quarry all together. I never did get through to them on the phone. I'd much rather have a tooth pulled.

I have not had any problems at getting through with my raymarine equipment, even got them two times in one day.
I think that some times they have higher rate of calls making it hard to get through.

Unfortunately, this kind of thing is going to keep happening until companies start hiring and stop doing the lean business thing. Cutting back jobs just cuts back income.

Now, I do have a solution and it would work for both political parties. It's my telephone stimulous plan, LOL: Outlaw all automated answering systems for companies over 25 people. First of all, you'd get a bunch of extra people working. But just as important, can you imagine how cool it would be if you actually got to speak to a human? You might be able to actually buy something. Think how much time you'd save and what you could get done if you didn't have to spend half your life on hold, LOL.
