I recently purchased a 2000 Hunter 380 with Raymarine RL70 radar and RC520 chartplotter. I've been trying to figure out how to use one or the other as a repeater. Can I display the radar information to the chartplotter? I've been through the manuals and it appears that I can but I don't have a display option. Help!

Ask Raymarine

Raymarine has real live people that answer "technical" questions via email. Start here: http://raymarine.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/raymarine.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php? and then choose "Ask Raymarine" Be as specific as you can ("I have model xxx and model yyy, connected via zzz and wish to dance the night away........."). I've had good luck with them. Good Luck! Tim Brogan April IV C350 #68 Seattle

I suspect not.

Ken, when we purchased our new 2006 Beneteau 473 it had a RC520 already installed, black and white I believe, at the helm and RL70c with radar down below in the nav station. We wanted to have equal access to radar and GPS chartplotter data at both stations and we wanted both to be in color. They said the 520 could not receive the radar because it needed HSB2 (High Speed Bandwith) cable to move the large amount of data between the two and the 520 was monochrome anyway. We negoiated to have two RL70RC's installed and the HSB2 cable network as part of the purchase deal. By the way they said the extra cost of the HSB2 cable network alone was $450.00 (which we did not have to pay either). So, I expect the answer you will get is yes, if you want to spend the money for rewiring a new network to a discontinued chartplotter display. I am not convinced even with the HSB2 network that you could display radar data on the 520. That's the best I can do, hope it helps. Rich

Nope

Hi Ken - Unfortunately you cannot repeat radar data on a RC520 plotter or chart data on a RL70 radar unit. Looks like it might be time to upgrade to Raymarine's E-series (it's only money, right?). Best of luck, Trevor

Thank you

Thanks to you all. Have contacted Raymarine and they are attempting to answer my questions. I don't know if I have HSB2 installed and was hoping there was some way I could 'ping' the radar from the RC520 to determine if the two are talking. Any thoughts on this? Thanks again. Ken
