Raymarine Autohelm installation?

We've recently acquired a 1996 Catalina 320, hull #385. We have the Yanmar 3GM30F engine, and the control panel for it is mounted on the pedestal guard slightly below the wheel. I'm certain the boat was delivered from the factory in this shape. We are considering adding an autohelm to assist with shorthanded sailing. The below decks models are interesting, but probably overkill for our utilization. The raymarine ST4000 MK2+ looks like it would work pretty well for us, and it's control unit would integrate nicely with our other instruments. Does anyone know if there is sufficient clearance to add the ST4000 with out having to relocate the engine panel? All of my neighbors with 320's (4 on my dock alone!) have covers over the pedestal, so I haven't been able to scope out there set ups. Any thoughts or advice on this topic would be much appreciated. I can also add a digital photo to the post tomorrow if it helps in the assessment. thanks

Autopilot Installation

Jim, I recently went through the same process on my C36 and had no problem with the wheel drive. If I get a chance I will take a photo and post it for you to view. Also, I went through an interesting process locating the fluxgate compass. I can offer some help here also if necessary.

Autopilot

Hi Jim, congrats on your new boat, your going to love it! I have a C320 hull # 689 and have the Raymarine St 4000 installed at the factory. It has plenty of clearance, no problem installing. The plug for the drive is located on the port side of the wheel. I can't believe the previous owner didn't have an Autopilot. I wouldn't leave home without it!
