Raymarine sells the ST6001 Autopilot with an optional rate gyro that can measure the roll/yaw of the boat. Anyone try this "G" option ? What are your thoughts ?

Is this an upgrade option for new Beneteau's?
I was looking at this also - I assume new Beneteau's that come with the ST6001 come without the "G" corepack. Do you know if you can upgrade to that option (assuming someone replies and thinks it's worthwhile!). Did you see my post on the gennaker gear?

S1G not standard
hello The s1g core pack is Not standard with beneteau they will give you S1 only. I am getting new 343 soon and have ordered the S1G thru my boat dealer who will then swap for the S1 fore the same price
. A friend has s6001 with s1g ast and says it is very good and allows MARPA on the radar/ plotter and sinificantly learns the sea state and uses less power once it is set itself up. franky

hello From my local beneteau dealer, S1 is standard and beneteau France will not upgrade or swap, its up to your dealer. May be different in u.s My dealer will do the swap S1 for S1g at no extra as he can factor it into the boat price, you know how it goes ! S1G is superior and if you use a C or E range radar plotter you will get MARPA functionallity and the also the AST. Friend of mine on his new Dehler 36 says it is well worth the upgrade regds franky

I'm getting the whole autopilot system fitted here by the local dealer in Singapore, it actually comes out cheaper than ex-factory. I just asked him to put on the extra and get pack which comes with the S1G instead.
