Trying to replace my old RayMarine auto pilot (black) with a new one (Gray) on my 2001 Catalina 310. The new one is a little larger overall diameter. The new one does not fit because it hits the engine instrument box mounted on the pedestal below the steering wheel. Anyone had this problem? Any one got a fix for this?

Not sure why your Ray Marine MK autopilot is hitting the instrument box, since it clears my box. see picture. post a pic and we may be able to help.

You may need to use the "secondary" mounting option which is to turn the unit 180 degrees so the motor is in the upper left quadrant of the wheel.

Thanks, I tried that but the drive motor hits the support for the cockpit table.

We have a C-320...identical pedestal configuration as your C-310. Our motor is mounted to port and we have a cockpit table/cup/binocular holder mounted on the pedestal guard. I'm not clear why the port mounting interferes with your table mount as we have ample room.

Please post a picture.

There's an '01 & '02 on my dock both with Mark II (gray) drives, I'll take a look at them this weekend and see what they got going on.
Most cockpit tables attach to the pedestal guard and have some clearance, sounds like yours may be smack up against pedestal ?

Went sailing during the week so didn't have a chance to catch the owners at their 310's. I did see a new 309 however that has a larger square pedestal, they had the motor mounted in the lower port quarter of the wheel. This meant the slot on the inner ring where the locking post normally is inserted was at the 3 O'clock position. I was unable to see how they had locked the inner motor ring in place.
