Are any Hunter owners or Hunter sailers in this area? We are outfitting our newer boat for our 10 year crusing trip and will be here for about 5 more weeks. We would love to meet any other regular visiters on this site. We will then be moving down the west Florida coast. Our e-mail address is bigadventure@aol.comI can only get online about once a week as the days are just to short when you must devote fully 2/3's of it to hurricane prep. The first storm only had winds of 38 knots. Isidore had winds of 65 knots measured at the top of Scooters mast. Thats about 71 mph. We stayed in the marina and it is very well protected. The major problem is storm surge and that WAS a major problem. We live aboard so we stayed with the boat to let out line and roll it in later. There was about 8 inches left on the piling tops after the docks flooded. The lines were about 6 feet below the water and the major concern was in keeping the boat away from those pilings. Normally the lines are at deck level when tied up. We love the life and its pace. We don't have to be anywhere at any time and can leave or stay at will.We look forward to hearing from anyone that might be interested in cruising or just want to follow our journey. Everything that was required to buy the boat or licence it is done so now there is no hurry but our own. Ray & MariaS/V Scooter
