Every year I have the hardest time getting off the raw water strainers for the engine and air-conditioning not mater if the threads have been lubed or not. Finally found a tool that works no matter how tight they have become.

Did you find that on the internet? If so what site? I'm needing one of those too.

Thanks

strainer

I only use hand tight when cleaning them out and putting back on and maybe that is why them some times drip a miner amount.
Nice tool but my 3 strainers are so close to other values that I have hard time getting my hand down around them as is but hey where did you get that.
I have found that they leak if I try tightening them too much.

Ok, but......

Why have a specialized tool for this?
I have 2 rubber strap wrenches on board, that will open/ close everything from oil filters to intake filters. A set of two is about 10 bucks. If you don't have them on board, you should add them to the "must have" tool box

Snap!

Measured up and made mine in 2003 - and not a moment's trouble since.
See ALSPANN1.PDF (Autumn Legend spanner No.1).

Incidentally, if space is tight then the outside diameter of the spanner (to you guys 'wrench') can be considerably reduced. It is plenty strong enough for turning the filter but only needs diameter to be capable of withstanding the inevitable rough and tumble of a boat's tool kit.
If working plastics is easier than metals than 1/8" or 1/4" thick PVC or similar will do.
