Hello- Is it necessary to install a raw water strainer in the head water intake line? I saw this recommended in an article for eliminating the odors that one gets from raw water. Raritan makes a head intake strainer
The only one I know of that's reasonably priced. Check their website at http://www.raritaneng.com If your local yard doesn't have any, you can order it directly from Raritan by calling 800-352-5630. And yes, I'd say you definitely need one in the Bay...'cuz not only is it highly "organic," but you haven't ever experienced head intake odor until you've sucked up a sea nettle and trapped it in the channel in the rim of your toilet bowl!

Plastic strainers.
I installed one. If nothing else it will make you remember to keep the thru-hull closed. Nothing like two more connection points with plastic in between.

I ordered and (almost) instantly received the raw water strainer from Raritan. Wow, what an efficient company. I'll be installing it and my new PH II toilet as soon as I finish painting the head. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts.
