No, not goofy. Next time you buy one, you might need the feet. The one before my freshwater pump is mounted.

I installed a strainer on the head intake. It has mounting tabs that I completely ignored. Here it is installed in my boat. BTW, you will note that it only has one SS clamp on each side. That is a problem that I'm going to fix and put another clamp on each side. Not a huge concern as the head inlet through hull is only open when we are on the boat, but not having just one clamp below the waterline is not good practice.

I think hat is the exact one that we installed today. It's a Jabsco pumpgard in-line strainer. We did use 2 clamps per side and ignored the tabs too. It was the tabs that just confused the issue for me. I'll grab a picture tomorrow but it looks pretty much like your install. thanks for the pic! SC
