I have a 2001 Hunter 380 with raw water refrigeration. The pump has gone out and needs replacing. Looking at the parts for Hunter 380, they recommend a pump that runs about $450 - 500. I have also found other pumps at Westmarine and other marine stores for less, but don't know what the compressor needs for water, i.e. 300 GPH? I currently have a johnson pump that is rated at 750 gph, but have had to replace it several times, as it is actually designed for bait tanks. The pump has a 3 year warranty and i've been replacing her about every 3 months and figure i just need to get a better, heavy duty pump designed for this function.

When mine went bad my refrigeration mechanic said to replace my cheap pump with a good one. We installed a March Pump 893-09. These cost around $300.

You should contact your Refrigeration Company for raw water flow and temperature requirements.
I am wondering why you had to replace the pump so often. What was the cause of past failures?
Impeller, seal, motor, debris, pump housing, corrosion....??
Jim...

PS: With the above info, many can help guide you.

2nd vote for March pumps, they seem to work better and last longer than the others, at twice the price.
