raw water intake for motor, size?

I recently broke an arm on the raw water intake housing and needs to be replaced. I got a new one from west marine but the holes in the filter I probably a quarter of what mine was originally. Is this filtering out too small of stuff? The overall size and diameter are the same.

You may have bought an inline water strainer for the freshwater pumping system, instead of a raw water intake filter. There are two different sections of them in the WM catalog. I just looked at mine and thline size of the strainer equals the hose size to my raw water engine pump. Check the two different catalog sections out (using the catalog index) and you'll see the differences.

I don't have the catalog but the one I bought is "shurflow raw water strainer" 3/4 hose size matches what was originally there.

What Shurflo or WM catalog number is it?

Just found it on defender. Guess I just bought a new filter for my fresh water system.

The ones for the engine are all bronze. Doh!
