ratbars or rigid ratlines ???

Anyone ever make or see any ratbars (rigid ratline-type steps to climb up the shrouds)? I want to make some out of teak but I'm having trouble figuring out how I might fasten them to the shrouds. Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks for the great ideas and pics. I think I may use a combination of the two. I've been wanting to buy a a Brion Toss book for a while, too, so this was a motivatorn to check half.com. Thanks again!
