Peggy,

I'd appreciate your thoughts on the Raritan Saniflex butyl hose? I am about to do another re-plumb and usually use Trident 101 but it is anything but flexible... Is the Saniflex as good? How is it priced and who stocks it?

Thoughts appreciated!!

Bump.... And yes I did a search but could not find your opinion of this hose compared to Trident 101...

Mainsail; I just asked the same question from Peggie 2 days ago. Her response was that the new Raritan SaniFlex hasn't been around long enough to establish any track record. For now stick with Trident 101 or 102.

I agree with that in principle, except the Saniflex is WAY easier to work with, certainly in a league by itself. In some cases a shorter life might even be acceptable. It is that much easier. Of course, the truth is we don't know.

When I needed to re-plumb my head, as part of a Practical Sailor test, I used the heavier lines for the sections that were most permeation prone (head to tank and tank to pump-out), but used the Saniflex on a tortuous run where the stiffer hose got in the way (over-board pump-out).

My personal bottom line is that I would stick with Trident 102 or Poly-X and save the Saniflex for lesser risk tight spots for now. You couldn't give me a spool of Odorsafe Plus--sure, I can make it fit and I believe it will last, but I don't want to work with it.

No one said you had to use all one hose type! For example, the vent won't be 102, since you'll have trouble finding anything but 1 1/2-inch. I think Sainiflex has a place in the tool box. How big a place, we don't know.
