Raritan PHII - No flush water

Peggie, My Raritan PHII is one year old, & had been working great. Until recently, when I turn from "dry" to "wet" now nothing changes. No rinse water. No change in resistance on the pump handle. Just pumps it dry. Here's what I have checked: I have the inlet water on a "T" to the sink, so I poured some water down the sink as to bypass the intake valve & strainer, nothing. I put some "head lube" in the toilet to ensure proper seal. It only pumped dry. I'd love to get your ideas on troubleshooting, especially in order of probablity, as I'm sure you know minimizing this unpleasant task is appreciated! P.S. I remember hearing the sound of the special air inlet valve when set to "wet" I don't hear that either anymore. Thanks!

Try plugging the sink

From your description, it sounds like the toilet is pulling in air from the sink that's preventing it from priming. To preven that, you have to either put a shutoff valve in a convenient location in the sink drain line so it can remain closed at all times except when using the sink (rarely will anyone be using both the sink and the toilet at the same time, so it's not likely to be a hassle), or keep a plug in the sink. To use the sink as a flush water supply, there has to be enough water in the sink--not just some in the line. From your comments, it doesn't sound like you put enough water down the sink to prevent the toilet from pulling in air. If plugging the sink doesn't cure the problem, try removing and cleaning the air valve. However, I doubt if that's your problem, 'cuz if it were, you'd feel resistance....like a clog...and you don't.

Thanks for the advice!

I never would have thought of that option. I'll fill the sink & see if I can get it to pump through. Might be a few weeks before I get back up there, but If this post is still around, I'll share my results. Thanks again!
