Ranger 26, 1971, first time buyer thoughts

Hi, I'm a first time buyer looking at a Ranger 26. The boat looks like it's ingreat condition, yet my lack of experience a) buying and b) with the Ranger lineupputs me at a disadvantage. Any thoughts or comments that could point me in theright direction(s) would be appreciated, thanks!-CB

Books first

Get some books on surveying. You may find some obvious reason why not to buy. If it passes your inspection then hire a pro.You should be able to find a Ranger sailors web site or forum where you can find out the particulars of this boat and what to watch out for when buying one.Tim R.

Hey CB,I've never sailed a 26, but like my R-28 it's a Gary Mull design so ..... great boats. There are several enthusiastic and knowledgeable owners over on this other list ... try ranger at list dot sailnet dot net.Unless it's in horrible shape, you probably won't go wrong.cheers,jcm

Thanks for the comments folks. Things lookinggood on this end we're ready to follow up witha hull inspection. The sense I have here is thatthere are going to be no osmosis problems butbest to have a look.-CB
