I installed my GPS and Fishfinder, using a RAM mount. It's surprisingly sturdy. The nice thing is that I can swing both units at the same time from the cockpit to the cabin. I can even swing them downward so I can see them at night from the aft berth. This gives me peace of mind while at anchor. I can just glance up from the berth and make sure I'm in the spot I should be.:)

Doug, that's pretty slick

Where did you get the mount and for how much?

Ram mounts are typically used to mount GPS, etc on the handlebars of motorcycles. Ram advertises in most motorcyle magazines. Or, I am sure you can google Ram mounts and find on web.

I bought mine on Ebay for $35 including shipping. Very well made and well suited. I think it was listed as a monitor mount.

Re: Doug, that's pretty slick

They are a little pricey, I think I paid about $50 at West Marine. They come in two sizes, I got the bigger/heavier version. If you check the RAM site you'll see they have a lot of different piecies and parts to accomodate just about anything you want to do. I used a long plate thing that allowed me to mount both the GPS and the Fishfinder together.

I have a mount as well. Mine is a WM swivel, and I did the same thing.... Kind of. Here is a pic.
