I have a 1982 ODay 34. I am trying to bring all the running rigging aft to the cockpit. What I'd like to do is raise the traveler and inch or two and run the lines through some organizers under the traveler. It is not at all clear what disaster will unfold when I start to disassemble the traveler or even if there's anything to bolt organizers to once I've lifted it up. Does anyone have experience or have a suggestion for what to do with this situation?

Afternoon: I have a 83 O34, and if your traveler is original equipment, there shouldn't be anything to disassemble. All your going to need are some stainless steel bolts approximately 2 inches longer than the ones that are in it now and 2 inches of starboard or teak for spacers. The bolts can be accessed in the cabin under the upholstered covers. If it's your intention to put the organizers directly under the traveler, the only thing immediately below the middle of the traveler is the false deck that goes over the hatch. I'm not too sure that there would be room under that to run bolts through as it might hinder the sliding of the hatch. Might want to rethink that plan. Post edited: There is an O35 (same boat) in the photo forum that a guy brought all of his lines back to the cockpit. You might want to check that out, he didn't raise his traveler and it looks real good. Might give you some ideas. Luck!

Slot size is a problem
I see the pictures. The size of the slot in the combing is quite narrow on my boat (it's only wide enough for the main sheet) and it's only on the starboard side. I still need to get the lines up and over but, I think I see a way to get it done now.

I will be sure to post some photos... It looks like the O35 has more room to run things... I'm looking forward to completing this project... but, since I've been talking about it for at least 3 years, don't be checking back too often for the finished product.

O 34 traveller
I rerigged some lines to the cockpit last year. I kept the traveller as it was, but added a slot to the port side & widened the stb slot. Have the main sheet & main halyard to stb, boom vang & toping lift to port. Also moved the 2 speed winch from the mast to the stb side. The single speed(or I am too old) wasn't enough to raise the sail. Used all garhauer componets (great stuff) It took some fiberglass work, but we had some other work one at the same time. A significant improvement for easier sailing!
