I have recently constucted a system to raise the mast on my 272 using a "A Frame". Using the spinaker halyard and a four part block and tackle system fastened to the bow cleats the system works well. At this time I am using the 1/4" pin and fork on the bottom of the mast step as a swivel and so far so good. I have some concerns with the strength of this pin and the cast aluminum mast support when starting to raise the mast from its horizontal position on the deck (actually it starts from 15 degrees) as there is a support mounted on the stern. Does anyone have any structural data on the mast step? Charlie
