You need to have the Gin Pole - a 6-7 foot long aluminum pole that goes in a hole in the front of the mast. This attaches to the jib sheet and then to your main sheet which is hooked to a strong point in the anchor well forming a triangle of the mast/jib sheet/ and main sheet. There are also two guide wires that attach to small reinforced holes on each side of the mast and ears on the stanchions to keep the mast from going to the side of the boat. The main is lead back to the winch and the mast is raised at the winch.
I have a 1998 26 and this is the setup. There is a similar setup on the 260's.
