I was wondering if anybody has raised the boom up the mast a little bit. I just purchased a bimini for my 26s. I would like to have a little more room from the boom. I did notice that i have about 2 to 3 inches from where the boom is now mounted and the opening in the mast for the main. I have just the main that came with the boat and I don't think that it reaches the top of the mast when it's raised. Has anybody raised their boom up? What do I need to be aware of when I do this?

sliding gooseneck,+ sheeve.
on macgregor-boats.com and probably in the archives here, some have added a sheeve at tht top of the mast, and used a sliding gooseneck for the boom. I think the gain was about 3". I have a slight rub from the boom with my 36" tall bimini. and can sail with the bimini up.
