Raise my jib foot?

Back to the original question. I have a Mac 26s with a mast that's a 1' and 1/2 short. It's set up as a masthead rig including the shrouds. Last year I ran it as a fractional rig and bought a jib to fit. Now that it's masthead, I added a pendant (made from a length of halyard) that raises the foot of my jib about 14". This is fine as I have a little room at the top and still no contact with the mast on the leech.

It allows a much better view, my wife can layout on the foredeck etc. the only thing I would caution is that you may have to put some adjustment in your jib sheets so you don't loose the tension on the foot. I forget the name of the rig.

I don't know that I have upset the balance but I may have very slightly.

Jib Foot extension

I have a 12' day sailer that I'm considering raising the foot of my jib. I've decided to make the post here as I've enjoyed this forum and am interested in how it may effect the trim rather then how I should go about it.

Two reasons got me wanting to try this. One it's hard to see forward without a window in the jib. Two, I noticed that the sail is about 6-8" shy of the halyard block.

Now I don't have a strong question here but I thought I'd see if anyone has done a similar thing and noticed any difference. At first I thought it may bring the balance forward but then thinking about it more, I realize that the jib will overlap the main more as the sail goes up. So not so confident on the slight lee helm idea. The lead angles will change a tiny bit but this is adjustable.

I guess the question is..what should I expect from doing this for balance? Maybe next to nothing in my small boat but I'm sure lots of people do this to clear their stanchions or pulpits.

I did this on my Hunter 310 raised it 8 inches - It really helped with visibility.
