Rainwater thru the mast

I have a Hunter 28.5, it seems to accumulate the majority of the bilge water when it rains, and I believe this is coming thru the mast, down the compression post and into the bilge. Does anyone know how to fix this without taking down the mast? Like drilling a hole in the mast side and putting something in to divert it?

Do it right and remove your mast.

I step and un-step my mast three times a year, its not a big deal. That way you will be able to do a decent job of fixing your leak.

If it is the mast, rebed the mast step

Diagnostics on water inside the cabin are tricky. For what it's worth, i have learned over many years that most of the water in my bilge actually gets there through condensation of moist air on the inner surface of the hull cooled by sea water. However, if you suspect a leak through the compression post, the likely suspect is that the bolts that hold your mast step to the cabin top need to be rebedded with caulk. Good luck!
