Greetings, I saw some interest in a raftup expressed in a discussion about something else. Just so everyone sees this, I'm posting it as a separate discussion topic. There a lot of Yamahas here in the Northwet, so whaddayasay? Also, I posted a bunch of new stuff on the site. Pinups of your boats are now in with the information for specific boat lengths. If you have anything to add to the wealth, let me know. Regards, Bob

Appreciation appreciated!

Greetings, It's a pleasure. It's amazing what you can do on the web without really knowing very much. If I was a software weenie instead of a sailor, the site would look a lot better. There's an off chance I might be in Australia later in the year. A friend is taking his Halberg Rassy 36 over there, and I volunteered to help take it from Hawaii to Australia. Nothing definite yet, and the weather windo for getting from here to Hawaii opens up in July, generally. Regards, Bob

rendez-vous for yamaha lovers

Hello Bob, I would like to thank you also for keeping this website going. There is no other place for us Yamaha lovers to chat. Therefore let's have a "get together" somewhere on this beautiful coast of ours this coming boating season. I'm sure everyone has a story. So we need a date and a place?? Right? Raftup planning

Greetings, Well, so far we have Birch Bay and Sydney. Somebody's going to have to clear customs. Bedwell comes to mind on the Canadian side, and Westcott Bay, just south of Roche Harbor. Any comments? Regards, Bob

Raft up

If we get enough responses do we perhaps want to try a rendezvous-type thing and stay at Poets Cove @ Bedwell Harbour, or does everone prefer something less formal and stay swinging on a hook? Tim Y33

Me Too!

Hi Folks, Well I may be jumping the gun a bit here but I'd be interested in some kind of raftup or Yama'vous too. Jumping the gun in that I bought the Y30 but haven't yet brought her home. (This weekend!) Best times for me would be either sometime before June or in Sept if it's more than a couple of days. If it's only one or two nights I could probably get out during June>August. Looking forward to meeting up with other Yamaha owners. Cheers, Craig, Y-30 Newly into North Saanich Marina.

Raftup planning

Greetings, I would look at an overnighter somewhere where we could anchor out, but not too far away from civilization. Haven't been to Poet's Cove--does it fit the bill? Also, July or August would probably be the best weather. September might well be spoken for as far as I'm concerned. The folks who are headed to Australia are getting eager to get going. Regards, Bob

Re: raftup planning

Couple of quick repsonses re: locations close to the border. - Poets Cove is the resort, Bedwell Harbour is the location. I believe you can clear Canadian Customs at Poet's cove during the summer (May thru Sept?) Tie up at Poet's Cove or drop the hook in Bedwell Harbour. BC Park is Princess Marguerite? Nice location, some hiking on shore, can get busy. - Really simple of course is Sidney Spit, lots of room, close to Sidney, unfortunately close to the airport. - Montague harbour on Galiano has lots of room, but coud be a bit too far away for our US brethren. - Stuart Island has either Reid Harbour on the south or Prevost Harbour on the north. Close enough to Roche for customs clearance. Roche itself becomes a zoo during the summer. - Sucia is better for US folks, a bit of a pain for us Canucks due to customs clearance - Griffin Bay at the south end of San Juan? lots of room. Anyway, there's a few ideas. If anyone wants to make it as far as Tod Inlet (Saanich Inlet, other side of the Saanich/Sidney peninsula) for a Sat night, I can get you into The Butchart Gardens for the fireworks display. (And no, regardless of what some folks will tell you, it's nowhere near as good from the water as from the viewing area!) Mid week or Sunday on works best for me. (Sat's are a definite no-go 'cuz I'm working the aforementioned fireworks shows.) cheers, jcm Y-30 Sidney
