Hi to all,
A while back I asked about whether or not a radio license is needed
for VHF outside of the US. I called the FCC and was informed that, if
you have only VHF and your boat is strictly recreation, NO license is
needed if used in US waters for US citizens. If you travel on your
boat outside US waters (Bahamas etc.) an operators licence and a ships
station license are needed. The operators license is free and costs
nothing. The ships station covers all electronics except for special
equipment like HAM and SSB and costs $150 and is good for 10 years. I
applied for these on line. Simple, easy and painless.
Thanks to the help of the guys on this site I am now licenced.
Thank you again guys.
Robert
