I have now sailed the waters around Florida for a few years and went up/down the east coast a couple of years ago but never really needed my radar until recently. We just got back from a trip to the Keys and one day had fog all day and another day had fog for a half day. A couple of months ago we went on a trip and had fog so thick the visibility was non existent. But with my HD radar I could see and tag boats in the area. On a couple of occasions I contacted boats heading my way to make sure they knew I was there. So to anyone thinking about coastal cruising I highly recommend you do not leave the dock without radar! Now if I could only see those crab pots on radar.....
