I'm looking for a radar tower to mount on the stern of my 37. Looks like prices are all over the field. Anyone have any thoughts???

Here are two.

Thoughts that is. The link below is a company that I see at the Cleveland boat show. Their products look really good up close and are reasonably priced. And here is a link to another one with lots of pictures: http://www.gate.net/~radrarch/ Then there is Gene Greunder's Rainbow Chaser site where he made his own! http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/Cabana/7414/arch.html Let us know the outcome.

Bill, Practical Sailor did an evaluation of Radar Towers in their 2/15/99 issue. It's available on their web site Practical-Sailor.Com for a nominal charge. The short version is that Edson was rated most versatile; Garhauer the best buy. I just ordered a Garhauer with a gimballed platform and an engine hoist this morning. You can contact them through Garhauermarine.com. Gary Wyngarden S/V Shibumi H335

Garhauer tower

If you choose Garhauer, you get a tower that you can manually level, plus an engine hoist for $500. I checked them out at the Chicago Strictly Sail show. The RT-8 is an 8' deck mounted radar pole, available in 2" or 2 1/2" diameter. The RT-10 is a 10' through deck mounted radar pole, available in same diameters. http://www.garhauermarine.com
