I have a radar antennae (closed) that I don't know the specs on. The whole unit is a 1970 Raytheon model, which was the type the Brit's used on all their Naval ships. I contacted them for a owners manual, contacted Raytheon (now Sperry) for one too. Neither could help. What I would like to do is use the antennae and buy a new LCD interface that I could use my GPS and chartplotter with. But, nobody seems to know if my antennae will work with any other system. Anyone with advice or that can point me in the right direction?

I personally would not invest one penny in 36 year old electronics. When i recently purchased my boat, the auto pilot was not working properly. It was a mid 1970's vintage. It went straight to the dumpster. Where i feel it belonged. You are talking about parts that probably went out of production 30 years ago. Try to fix one and another one goes out. Also keep in mind that the antenna was designed to match the rest of the electronics in the system. You ststed that you didnt know if it worked with any other system, how do you know if it works at all? Could be a fun project but probably way too costly for me to venture into.

RayMarine took over all of the consumer marine stuff - the instruments and radar and the like from Raytheon in 2000 or 2001. They have reasonable tech support and if anyone has the info you need they will. It probably won't be in the web site, but they may be able to copy something for you. Give them a call. All that notwithstanding, the thing probably needs replacing. They may be able to tell you if anything new interfaces with the old display. Rust never sleeps. Water always wins.

The unit came with the boat, and worked 5 years ago. It looks like it came right from the factory. Let's not forget the antenna was in a fiberglass cover for all those years, and so was sealed from the elements, which is why I think it still has worth. As for the other end, it looks something like from an old war movie, and I was hoping the antenna would work with a new other part.

We can't even get depth sounders ...
from 20 years ago to interface modern stuff ... And GPS to autohelm which is even simplier won't happen. If the radar works as is ... fine. Let the GPS act independently. Vic "seven"

It's too old to be bothered with and would have an impedance mis-match for any new radars.
