I am about to install a radar system on my 34 MKII and I will be using a mast mounted radome scanner/antenna. I recently purchased a 4kw, 24 inch Raymarine Radome and now I am thinking that the 2kw, 18 inch unit is better suited.... I understand the operating differences between the two but my concern is the size and how it will interfer with the sail and the look of a larger unit on the mast....Any thoughts on keeping the 4kw or should I install the 2kw? Thanks

How big is your head sail? I have a 150%, in very light winds I have to pull the head sail across in a tack because it gets hung up on the radar. I have the smaller 2kw.

Are you planning

on unstepping the mast to install the dome and mount? Or are you going to run the wires down the outside of the mast? Do you have in mast furling? Have you considered a stern mount for the radar? Like my neighbor up the bay said, what size head sail do you have? Why do you want to mast mount the dome? You realize when you go up the mast that you reduce the ability to see close in front of the boat? Are you interested in what is miles out in front of you or up close? I would not like the problem of having to deal with my sail getting caught up when I tacked with my 155 genny good luck
