Just purchased a 2004 Catalina MKII with dome on the stern. Purchased what I thought everything to relocate to mast. However the 15m of Raymarine cable I purchased does not connect to the existing SL70RC Plus series Radar/Chartplotter. When the boatyard where the work is being done contacted Raymarine, they were told since the system had been discontinued, there were no parts available including the correct cable to run up the mast.
Any ideas, I am dumfounded as I don't feel the electronics are that old.
On my previous boat I was able to get parts from B&G for a 25 year system.

hI,
Can't you buy a shielded cable with the proper amount of internal cables from a local electric supplier.
My dome is install on the mast, and the cable goes from dome to a junction box under the settee, and from this box to the SL70RC a the helm.
The connection inside the dome doesn't require a special connector, just a cable end.
Junction box is nice for unstepping mast.

Yes, I suppose I can. I wasn't sure about splicing the wire to my plug at the helm. Had always read not to splice radar. Maybe the boatyard isn't that up on everything. I ordered the cable through WM and it has plugs which do not match my chartplotter or dome. Raymarine offered no help. I will investigate your suggestion. Thanks!

Raymarine, and many other electronics manufactures, including Garmin which I use, seem to be in the business of only wanting to sell you new equipment. Their loyalty to backing up their older equipment (more than 5 years) is minimal. I think that they make a production run & when their out, that's it. Their new NMEA 2000, etc. equipment is even worse. Some of the new electonics won't interface with other electronics that are only a year or two old. Is the gain of moving your radar up to the mast worth the trouble. It it already works on its current location, I would leave it alone. Patrice raises a good point that you will also have issues with removing it when unstepping your mast in the future.
