Of the 290/306 or 310/320/327 owers; where have you installed your Radar Display? I was looking to install at the helm but am unable to find a sutable location. Can you help?

Radar 290

Eric, Given a choice I would have the radar at the helm. We installed at both locations in our 290 and it really is not to difficult. At the helm we removed the small stainless hand hold at the front of the pedastal and replaced it with a 12" high guard with a navpod attached. Works great on the 290. At the nav station we built a teak cabinet at the back of the nav station table. We attached it to the sationary portion of the top at the rear and the common wall with the head. Took some woodworking skills and careful calculations to still allow the top to open, but looks like it was built as part of the boat. Also gave us a space to put the link 20 and a few small storage trays. Technically our radar is below (RL70CRC) and the chartplotter is above (RC530). We repeat the radar through the high speed bus to the helm. Hope this helps. Dan Jonas (S/V Feije II)

Same thing on a 340...

I did the same thing Daniel did on my 340. I had a shop make a custom stainless steel binnacle guard to replace the short one that was there originally. Mine is extra long and bolts all the way down to the cockpit floor rather than just in the fiberglass pedastal. The navpod just attaches to it and you're all set. It's great having a chartplotter/radar at the helm!

Guard

It was standard equipment. Not sure now where we got it. Edson maybe. 9" centers if I recall correctly and 12" tall. Bolted right on where the short one came off. Dan Jonas (S/V Feije II)
