Has anyone either fabricated or purchased a radar/davit arch for the 37c?

If you Google "rainbow chaser h37 cutter" you can find Gene Greunder's site. He has an amazing number of projects recorded including an arch for solar, radar, and davits.

Did you find it Rob? Here's the site address: http://austinsailor.net/ . You have to scroll way down to find his projects. But it is worth the trip to see all the things he is involved with. We don't see him here anymore since he sold Rainbow Chaser. But his work remains and his e-mail address is posted there.

If you do tackle an arch be sure to show us how to do it.

Why an arch and not a pole? I am sure it is just me, but I have never liked the boats that look like they were born out of NASCAR.

Do you sail with a bimini Blaise? Probably don't use it when racing. But I think a properly designed arch where the aft end of the bimini attaches to it can look alright. I don't like sailing with a bimini and of course never do with my Highlander. But protection from the sun is pretty important on the long days out there. And makes it cooler also. So my point is there is the bimini frame anyway so I don't think an extra tube or two really detracts. At that height you would still need a pole attached to get the radar scanner high enough. But now you have a great spot for solar panels and/or davits. Not that I would ever spend the money.

I do have a bimini, but it folds flat inside the stern pulpit. I am presently having a dodger built (getting old I guess) and will let you guys know how it turns out.
