I replaced my original fuel filter with a Racor 120. My question is if I connected the supply and exit line correctly. On the top of the filter housing there are four places for fittings, labeled 1 to 4. There appears to be two in and two out positions. The instructions do not clearly indicate if you must use one in and the corresponding out on the outer side of the filter or can you use the in and out on the same side of the filter housing. In my installation using an in and out on the same side of the housing would be prefered. Any experience? Kevin

Hi Kevin Great question, I don't know the answer, but suspect you must enter and leave on opposite sides. Why not make a temporary connection and prove it to yourself. This would be easy if you did as I, and put a squeeze bulb in the feed line, between filter and engine. Works great for priming. Been in for 3 years nows, and no trouble yet. Good luck red

Best bet is to call. . . .

someone like Torreson Marine, they have been very supportive of this site(http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/). But I think that the four-port model is for tight spots, to make it easier to install. The ports toward the front of the unit are interconnected as are the two rear most. This is so that you can keep the connections both on the same side if that is more convenient.

arrows?

I seem to remember some arrows indicating flow, either on the filter housing or in the directions. Its been a couple years, though--I could be wrong. I'm not near my boat or I would check. Someone will surely know the answer to this.

On the Racor 110

there are four ports and my hoses are hooked up on opposite ports but staggered (ie not straight through). I know because I was just checking it yesterday. I'd guess the 120 would be similar but probably better check, you don't want to pump a tank of deisel into the bilge ;.)

any in & out will work.

both hoses on my 110 are on the same side due to clearance and access issues. I installed myself and it works great. Make sure you have the threaded plugs for the the unused ports. Good Luck.
