Wanted to check in-line diesel water filter on my new 310. How do you turn the fuel off at the tank? Do have to renew the filter or is it a cleanable one? model is 660rrac02. Thanks Julian

On my 310 the fuel shutoff is accessible via a little lift up access panel in the cockpit port locker. You can get to the shutoff as well as the pickup tube if ever necessary. The filter is definitely a replacement item. Read all the posts about bleeding the system, etc. before proceding, especially if you've never messed with a diesel, unlike a gas engine, air in the line will not work its own way out. Don't forget there is another fuel filter on the engine itself. Read the posts about that one too on this site. have fun.

Odd you should mention this ..................

............. as I am in the process of installing a fuel shut off valve immediately upstream of the Racor filter. Should make changing the filter less stressful as there should be less air introduced to the upstream fuel line and filling the bowl should be much easieras well. This can be a real fun job as the filter is right over a limber hole which would love to distribute spilled diesel fuel throughout your bilge system. As william had mentioned, the factory fuel shut off is located beneath a hatch cover in the rear port lazerette. Good Luck, s/v Island Hunter
