This is video clip is from the Tjörn Runt "Around Tjörn Island Race", a sailboat race in Sweden where about 400 boats participate and of the 400, 300 go through this little passage in order to shave off some distance. This year, 10 boats became "Rock Stars"

I particularly like the last grounding and the casual, extended arm, MOB recovery!!!! Is it really worth 30k+ in hull damage to win that race?? More money to burn than I....

Its fairly obviously that this race is 'powered' by Akvavit (aquavit / akevitt) ... "Skål !!! .. or as the 'english-speakers' say - Skoal" !!!!!!

I loved the attempt to overtake in the channel in the last clip!

Reminds me of something my skipper used to (jokingly) remind the crew.
"Rules state that we have to finish with the same number of crew we started with.
They do not state they have to be the same crew!"

Wow! That's awesome! People would watch sailboat racing like that. Any kind of racing is a pay to play sport. If you can pay, you can play. The guy trying to overtake in the channel is my favorite. I wonder if he has any racing t-shirts for sale.
