Ok, Lets get some racing news going on here. I'm getting tired of the ole "whats my phrf"? I want some "Hunter Racing News"!!! Lets start posting our weekend racing scores, helpfull hints, rigging tricks, starting line strategies, racing stories of kicking butt, and so on. I know I am not the only one out there slugging it out with J-22's, Ensighn's, Mcgregger 25's, and Catalina 22's. I race on Lake Wylie, just south of Charlotte NC. You can check out our web page at www.homestead.com/catawbayachtclub. We have three racing classes and race fall/winter/spring. We have Lightnings, J-22, and PHRF fleets. I have an 86 H23 and race in the "Blue, or slow" fleet. We had hot competition all fall with a Person 25 and I, slugging it out each day. We managed to win the series by just 2 points. I learned a ton about racing my H23 this year. My most valuable lesson was to not try and point with the fleet. Start under them and fall off slightly, slack sheets and go! Keep the speed up at all cost. A few times I even beat all the J-22's to the finish. I must admit that luck had something to do with that day. Now come-on guys/gals, post your weekend battle stories here. Scott

Great Idea Scott!

Scott: I look forward to checking out your results for the season! Congratulations! Thanks for the URL. Our results are available at stocktonyachtclub.com. We ended up 3rd in our "non-spinnaker" fleet for the fall. We were also 3rd in our club's big event, the Missouri Governor's Cup. 22 boats in our fleet - several Hunters! Can't wait to get started next spring. Several boats are buying new sails - competition will be tough. I'm with you - let's hear from more racers! Ron s/v Counterpoint Hunter 33.5

Winter Racing

Sorry you guys up North can only play for 1/2 the year, but down South its to Darn Hot to play in the Summer. We stop racing in June thru Aug due to heat and no wind. Our winter series is just starting up, mostly a cruiser class and we will be racing every other weekend throughout the winter. Its crazy, but out first race was canx due to SNOW/SLEET, and no wind. Go Figure!!! We are starting up this Sunday now, so it will be sunny and 85 deg I bet. Weather has been real strange this year, the lake is so low I had to move my boat to another slip. Can't race if you can't get out of your slip. I just added a spinnaker to the boat and trying to get it rigged up properly. My H23 had the spinnaker sheet blocks, but no halyard rigged. I also needed an up-haul and down-haul for the pole. If any of you have any slick ideas, please pass my way. My e-mail is: "wsdavis@fmtc.net" Will let you all know how Sunday Go's next week. Racing

Scott, great ideal espeacilly for us who have the older series Hunters. They race great when set up right. But I'm not sure about the newer ones. Not very many controls to shape there sails. I have a 31' 1987 and a 45' 1987 "haven't been able to sell the 31' ". But both boats race really well. I race out of Holland, Michigan. Usually race on Lake Michigan have done many races accross and on the big lake. Won a lot of them just a HOOT to beat these performance racers.

Used to be a racing forum on this site. It died from lack of activity. Maybe you guys can revive it.

28.5

I would like to race so I can proove that the 28.5 isn't a tug boat. I have a fast boat but no one to race. I keep my boat on a Coast Guard base and we have no club Infact we only have two sail boats there. I am the only one that stays all year. So if any one out there is from the Portsmouth area, lets get togather and do some racing. Any takers? Scott thanks for lighting a fire here. Scott from the other side of the building. Later
