Racing in the Rain

It just keeps raining and raining in Texas. But we had a great time sailing in the rain on Galveston Bay last Saturday.

I never thought racing with a bimini would be cool. Until now! ;-)

At the start I couldn't figure out what the crewmember was doing in the pit, cranking madly on a red line with no visible effect.... until I figured it was your MAINSHEET. Ouch that's a painful way to have to bring that in!

I wish I could sail period. Marina been shut down since last Thursday. Lake 16 feet over. Nice video though.

All the Hunters I've been on from the 1990's & 2000's with an arch have their mainsheet on the winch and clutch next to the companionway. It's not all that bad once your used to it, just hard to trim the mainsheet and starboard jib sheet at the same time.
I hold off putting the bimini up as long as I can, you can't see the sails. I waited until half way thru May this year, but the Texas summer sun is brutal on those long days on the water. The crews on boats without a bimini just looked miserable in the rain last Saturday.
