Rabbits on boats?

My youngest daughter is looking to get a pet bunny. Has anyone ever taken one on their boat for 2-5 day cruises? Any suggestions or things to watch for? Would you do it? Not sure what a sea sick rabbit would be like! Our vessel is a 26' Hunter.

Twalker, please don't do this.

We have had several rabbits, one at a time, as house pets (full run of the house 24/7) for many years and I can tell you they are extremely delicate out of their comfort zone.

I would definitely advise against this.

We used to take our Chinchillas with use on club cruises. They did fine but pretty much stayed in cages. We'd let them out and they would hop about before going back where they felt safe.

We also had two rats that went along in their travel cage as well. Who would intentionally put rats on a boat?

I agree.
with the exception of a potty broke rabbit, which is rare, because they normally "drop as they hop" and are hard to be taught otherwise, you will find rabbit pellets & piddle everywhere the rabbit can get to.... in a damp marine atmosphere, I can only imagine the barnyard smell that would quickly develop, as it wont dry up nearly as quickly as in a house, which is plenty bad enough.

My boys rabbit, named Pubic Hare was very nervous out of his comfort zone. I would not recommend a boat ride.

Just don't let those big ears get caught in the halyards. Now THAT would be a hare-raising story. :yikes:
Tell it to the SPCA .
