Hi Peggy- We really hate the noise from the Jabsco Electric heads in our Hunter. I was thinking of changing the motors to either the Jabsco quiet flush or the Sea Era system. We currently use integrally pumped salt water for flushing. Will the Sea Era fit our existing compact bowls? Which of the two is more quiet? Thanks, Bruce

Sea Era is not quite!

Bruce: The Sea Era is not quite. It has a standard macerator pump at the bottom of the toilet. One one end of the pump is a raw water pump. When you push the button both pumps are activated. I am very impressed on how little water it takes to evacuate the contents of the bowl with this unit, but it is NOT quite. The Sea Era comes with or without the bowl, so I would tell you that it should work fine. The area that we had to mount a toilet on our HV'36 is very limited and it fits fine.

All raw water electric toilets are noisy

That's because--contrary to popular belief--it's not the discharge pump and macerator that makes all the noise, it's the raw water intake pump. Some are noisier than others...the Jabsco 29200 conversion and Raritan Crown Head will wake the dead! The SeaEra is quieter than most, but as Steve said, it's not quiet. Toilets designed to use onboard pressurized flush water are very quiet...even quieter than many household toilets. That's because toilets that use pressurized flush water do not have an intake pump...they have an electric solenoid valve. So just switching from one brand of raw water electric toilet to another will not solve your noise problem. To get rid of the noise, you'll have to switch to a toilet that uses pressurized flush water. The Raritan SeaEra is available in both raw and pressurized flush water versions...both are available as a complete toilet or a "conversion" (everything but the bowl). Yes, your existing bowl will work...and so should your existing wiring, cuz pressurized flush water toilets draw only 10 amps, sompared to 16 for most raw water toilets (24 for the jabsco conversion). And, pressurized flush water toilets use about 30% less flush water than raw water toilets. This vendor has the best price I've found: http://www.boatfix.com/elec/rarseaera.asp
