Quiet a fresh water pump

My fresh water pump makes a lot of noise when running (vibration). How can I quiet this down? I've tried extra padding but it still makes lots of noise. Any ideas Thanks

Try an accumulator.

Mitch: Try an accumulator in the line. I doubt that it will take care of the problem but it does help. There is now a new computerized pump available that is suppose to be very quite but they cost about $240.

Loosen Screws...

The pumps have rubber washers on the mounting screws to keep the vibration down. If the screws are tightened too tight, the washers loose all of the "give" that they were put in for. Try checking to see if loosening the screws help, and if it does, then I would suggest that the washers be replaced and only tightened until snug. Use a acron nut if possible to keep them from backing off. Steve

Computerized pump

I installed one over the winter. It's not quiet, although it does continuosly adjust to the water demand rather than just being on or off.

Has anyboby tried this?

I have the same issue on my 376. I was thinking about securing the fresh water lines and letting the actual pump "float" so that it doesnt actually attach to the hull. Thereby reducing the vibration.

Risky...

Tacking and heeling can really toss things around--enough to disconnect the hoses from the pump on a really good day. If one rough day isn't enough to do it, several could have a cumulative effect that would let the hose slide off the last milimeter of the pump for no reason at all.
